Two Routes, One Summit: Choosing Your Climb for the Cure Ride

On June 13, 2027, every rider rolls out from Big Barn Brewery in Mead and turns toward the same place: the summit of Mt. Spokane. What changes is the road you take to get there. Climb for the Cure offers two routes — and choosing the right one is the first real decision of your race.

The A-Route: the full test

The A-Route is the big one: 50.5 miles with roughly 6,422 feet of climbing, from the start line to the summit and back to the barn. It’s a long, honest day in the saddle — gravel that goes on, sustained climbing, and a view at the top you earn one pedal stroke at a time. If you’ve been building your base, chasing long weekend rides, and you want the mountain to give you everything it’s got, this is your route.

The B-Route: no consolation prize

Don’t let the shorter distance fool you. At 22.2 miles and about 2,652 feet of climbing, the B-Route is a real challenge with its own share of lungs-and-legs effort — and a perfect pick for first-timers, riders returning to form, or anyone who wants a hard, finishable day that still ends at the summit celebration. Plenty of riders start here, fall in love with the event, and come back for the A-Route the next year.

How to choose your line

Not sure which route is yours? Be honest about the training time you have between now and June, then pick the one that excites you and scares you just a little. And remember the start line is wide open: whether you ride gravel, mountain, or pedal-assist, both routes are yours — solo, with friends, or as a team chasing the Corporate Cup. What matters most isn’t the distance you choose; it’s that you commit to the climb.

Whichever line you ride, you’re out there for the same reason. Every mile of both routes — and every dollar raised — goes to cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through The Wendy Fund. The climb is hard on purpose, because the fight is hard, and because we take on that mountain together, for the people we love.

So pick your route, circle June 13 on the calendar, and lock in your spot while early-bird entry is at its lowest — entry starts at $100 and climbs as race day nears. The summit is waiting. We’ll see you at the top.
